Spa & Wellness Director
Stephanie will tell you that she was born into the beauty and wellness industry since her mother was as a Mary Kay director. She fondly remembers starting her skincare regimen at the age of 8 and understanding that “self-care is a necessity not a luxury.” That phrase has been the driving force of her career as a Spa and Wellness Director. From being the Spa Manager at the iconic La Costa Resort and Spa with 42 treatment rooms, to the cute boutique Spa Na’Mara at Hotel Indigo in Del Mar with 5 rooms, the goal is the same. Fabulous self-care with memorable experiences.
When Stephanie is not working, her and her husband love going to Disneyland….It’s truly the happiest place on earth. She firmly believes the myths that they pump in their own air, because as soon as you walk through the gates you immediately feel better and start singing “It’s a Small World”. Stephanie also enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, as she feels they keep her young.
“I really enjoy getting to know the Club members at Kona Kai Resort. Knowing their interests, likes, and dislikes helps me to better customize the spa and boutique offerings, as well as special events just for members. It’s important to keep the exclusivity of our member offerings, and that will always be the goal of SpaTerre. Membership always has to have privileges. And our incredible members deserve to be valued and pampered”.
Director of Food & Beverage
Amanda has been in the Food and Beverage industry for over 25 years. She started at the bottom and worked her way up. She got her start as a server and bartender and instantly fell in love with F&B. Working her way up to Management, her first assignment was as a Culinary Manager in Long Island, NY. She was one of the youngest managers in the Tri-State area at only 22 years old.
Throughout her career, she has been blessed to work at some amazing establishments including the #2 ranked Steakhouse in the Nation, night clubs, fine dining, and even as a Cabana bartender at a Disney Resort. Her Disney experience opened her eyes to the hotel/resort industry, and from then on…was hooked! She moved to California in 2010 and worked in three SF Bay Area Marriott hotels over 10 years, one of which included celebrity chef Michael Mina’s steakhouse where she had the dual role of Restaurant General Manager and Hotel Director of Outlets. She joined the Noble House Family at Hotel Zoe at San Francisco’s famed Fisherman’s Wharf. It was then that she was called upon to work at Kona Kai for “one month”, in a task force capacity. She fell in love with the resort, its wonderful Members, the team, and San Diego… and has never looked back!
One thing most people don’t know about Amanda is that she went to school for music performance specializing in Opera. She has been to England three times and sung in some of the most famous cathedrals in the world (Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s, St. Mary’s in Edinburgh). When not working (and sometimes when she is, you’ll see her with headphones on as music is one of her greatest passions… along with food and beverage.
“I am so excited to be part of the leadership team at Kona Kai Resort and Spa! One of my favorite aspects of my job is to envision fun and exciting events for our wonderful members! They are an amazing group of people who have a great thirst for learning and experiencing activities centered around food and beverage. I love sharing my passion for and knowledge of F&B, and I look forward to creating many more events for our membership community to experience!”
