Yes, she is a double Disney princess. Born and raised in San Diego, Aeriel is a true San Diegan. With a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts with an Emphasis in Performance and a Minor in Sociology, Aeriel has always enjoyed being around others and bringing smiles to their faces. In 2013, Aeriel made the switch from the stage and into hospitality beginning at the Front Desk. During her years in hospitality, she has held the titles of Sales Coordinator, Front Office Agent, Front Office Supervisor, Front Office Manager, Guest Services Manager and Group Rooms Coordinator.
Aeriel has always wanted to step into the world of Event Management and is excited to be doing just that with Kona Kai. He role at Kona Kai is robust as she leads all member events & activities with a focus on member relations and member happiness.
In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies and hosting game nights with her friends and husband. Aeriel is also a skilled line and hip-hop dancer, and she has performed in all the major San Diego theme parks. Her daily motivation comes from her young nieces. Aeriel states “I was raised by strong women, and I want to continue their legacy by being the best role model for my nieces.” One of Aeriel’s favorite quotes to live by is “The sun does not ask permission to shine, and neither should you.”

I have been working in the hospitality and wellness industry for over eight years and am passionate about creating fun, memorable experiences that help guests and members relax, connect, and enjoy everything our beautiful waterfront resort has to offer.
As a San Diego native, I have always loved the outdoors, health and wellness, and building community. Whether I’m leading a fitness class, coordinating resort activities, or helping guests plan the perfect day by the bay, my goal is to ensure every guest feels welcomed and leaves with lasting memories.
When I’m not at Kona Kai, you can usually find me practicing yoga, hiking, creating art, enjoying live music, or spending time at the beach.

Born and raised in San Diego, Amanda Castanedo brings 17 years of experience in the beauty and spa industry, including 10 years in resort spa management, to the role of Spa Director at Kona Kai. With a passion for wellness, exceptional guest service, and cultivating high-performing teams, Amanda is excited to bring her expertise and elevated experiences to the Kona Kai spa community.

A bit about my background: I am a Southern California native and have spent my entire life living between San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. I grew up in North County and currently reside in Cortez Hill/Little Italy. If you see me around the resort, please feel free to talk to me about Padres baseball, Philadelphia Eagles football, upcoming concerts in the city, or new restaurant and lounge openings—I’m always looking for recommendations.
Prior to joining the team here at Kona Kai, I served as the Director of Operations for four years at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, and most recently as the Acting General Manager of L’Auberge Del Mar.
