The Kona Kai Club began as the dream of C. Arnault Smith, who wanted to transform a sandbar into a boat shelter where yachts and sail boats could be protected from ocean storms. Now we know Shelter Island as the home of the Kona Kai Resort & Marina and its first resident, the Kona Kai Club.  A part of San Diego history, the Kona Kai Cub has hosted celebrities, heads of state and international dignitaries.

Kona Kai Club, back from hiatus, has long been considered San Diego’s most exclusive private club. Our members receive luxurious amenities and impeccable service with an indoor/outdoor dining experience, a lavish spa, and so much more. The Kona Kai Club is once again the crème de la crème of San Diego's private clubs.

With a very active social calendar, a wide-array of fitness activities and Member amenities, our Kona Kai Club will be the backdrop for years and years of memories.
